This is one of the first of the new "ecological mats" its made of NATURAL RUBBER> great for the environment - and you. Keep in mind, I've had this mat for ~3 years. They seem to have improved. Natural rubber is much heavier than the normal "sticky" mats made of PVC plastic- it smells more too - but its got vastly better traction. I won't buy anything but natural rubber in the future. So called sticky mats poison the environment, Do you really want cancer causing plastic on touching you in yoga?
Pros:Healthy, better for the environment. BEST traction of any mat I've found - even when wet with sweat!
Cons:Heavy! Smells a lot when new. I'm rough on mats. As I use this one, the small particles of black rubber break off and stick to my face. I think the newer mats aren't so bad
