Teacher training hours?
Teacher training hours?

I find the methods of disseminating yoga in the West questionable sometimes. Yoga is a sacred science, unless one is fully aware of this vast philosophy and has practiced it for a few years, it is not advisable to teach it to others. One does not become a yoga teacher by taking a 200 or 300 hour training. It requires cultivating wisdom, perseverance, surrender and a heart to help others.

Would like to hear from the yogis in America what they have to say about this.

Re: Teacher training hours?

I tend to agree with you. I myself am training to become a teacher and I have only been practicing for two years. I am not in a rush though. I am only training and learning in hopes to someday teach.  I am certified to teach but realize that I am not ready even though my practice has been intense and I am very passionate about yoga. Learning the philosophy of yoga is not quickly absorbed.
